[foodies' corner] All about food!

Image
Recently, I went to Osaka Ohsho during my lunch break with my lunch-mates, and the restaurant is located at Raffles City Shopping Centre ! I had my favorite Scallop Okowa Rice with Gyoza Set . In my personal opinion, Osaka Ohsho serves the best Gyoza in town, as each piece tasted divine.   Popular award-winning chicken rice from Bangkok, Go-Ang Pratunam has finally opened up in Singapore! The brand has been established for over 50 years in Thailand.   This Michelin Bib Gourmand awardee Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice is indeed like our Singaporean version of Hainanese chicken rice, and the only difference I found was the chilli dip. Instead of the familiar blend of orange chilli sauce and ginger sauce, theirs is a mixture of blended dark soya sauce, vinegar, cut ginger and green chillies.      Baby enjoyed the Red Curry Chap Chye . The curry gravy went pretty well with our chicken rice too.    I enjoyed the Chai Poh ...

[Chinatown Food Street] THE 50 CENT FEST

Image
I LOVE WEEKENDS!       I met up with Chewy and Sweetie to spend our nostalgic sat-date at THE 50 CENT FEST at Chinatown Food Street . The crowd was over-whelming, and I was surprised to see many locals and tourists showing their supports to this food festival.     Upon entering the premises, we were transported back into the past, way back in the 1950s where one could find local eats as low as 50 cents! The food fest featured more than 30 traditional hawker dishes that included rare yesteryear dishes, such as Rickshaw Noodles, Ice Balls and Kok Kok Mee. The event aimed to endear itself to the old saying of 'The 50-CENT is bigger than a bull-cart wheel!'     Some dishes cost 50cents while some were charged at SGD1-SGD1.50, and the only dish that cost SGD2 was the Chilli Crab! The prices during the event depended on what type of food and quantity of each unique food that was offer. Each stall ...

Weekend brunch at KRAZY Salads

Image
RKM had a date with Godma for a Saturday brunch at the newly opened food joint, KRAZY Salads. It is located at Toa Payoh Central and near to Saizeriya Ristorante E Caffe.       I love their signature ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT salad bar as they never fail to disappoint with their generous selection. The buffet comes free with any main course ordered.       A quick overview of the salad bar, and it comprises of salads, soups, different pastas, ice-cream and much more!     There were 3 types of soups (Minestrone, Clam Chowder and Cream of Mushroom) available at the salad bar. The soups tasted amazing and will leave you asking for more!     If you do not have a big capacity for food, just order the Salad Bar Buffet as it will be enough to fill you up!   I ordered Hickory BBQ Chicken , and you choose between   Old-Style Chips or Baked Potato to go with it. I opted for Baked Potato...

[random eats] Mrs Pho + Noodles Place Restaurant

Image
I used to like Nam Nam Noodles Bar very much, till baby brought me to a new joint named  'Mrs Pho', which is located at Beach Road. Mrs Pho is opened by Vietnamese nationals, and they promise a slice of Saigon when you enter the premises! There is no fusion in the menu, as they offer only traditional Vietnamese food. I had Brisket Beef Noodle (Pho Nam) for myself, and the flat rice noodle was cooked to perfection. I love the broth too, and I always enhance the taste of the soup by squeezing lime and adding a dash of fish sauce. that Vietnamese restaurants always provide. Baby ordered the Special Beef Combo Noodle Soup (Pho Sac Biet) which came with slices of fatty brisket, beef slices and beef meatballs. The sweet broth tasted just perfect for his taste buds. We shared the Papaya Salad (Goi Du Du ), and it was delicious! I love the  Fried Spring Roll (Cha Gio) very much! Each spring roll is stuffed with a juicy fil...

Back to Jess Baby's humble space (Rosebullet X Anna Sui)

Image
I went down to Rosebullet at Orchard Gateway for the  Rosebullet X Anna Sui event with Meryl, Tracy and Joanne. Both Joanne and I picked up an eye-shadow from Anna Sui and along with a eye-shadow case. I like the tiny book eye-shadow case very much! The damage was SGD23. It was a pleasure browsing the collection in the store and we were offered drinks from Rosebullet as well as receiving an appreciation door gift upon registering at the event.    I picked up some items from Etude House, Suntec City . I got the Silk Scarf for my trip in Perth, Australia. It is a double care hair mask which consists of 2 steps, Hair Treatment and Essence Hair Cap . Apart from the hair mask, I also purchased the Best Seller Set which consist of 3 star products from Etude House - Previous Mineral BB Cream (SPF30 PA++), Moistfull Cream and Sleeping Pack Mask at only SGD20. I got a greeting card from Tracy who ca...
