Birthday Celebration at Café Monochrome & The Tiramisu Hero Café

Image
Happy Birthday to Wilfred! Our paths first crossed in 2018, and it seems like we've been friends for a very long time, as we always have endless conversations whenever we meet up! I met up with the Birthday Boy and CK on a random weekday after my work. We settled our dinner celebration/gathering at Café Monochrome which is   located at 216 Syed Alwi Road . The café bears a black and white interior that looks like a flat 2D illustration in photos. We ordered a Truffle Cream Pasta ,  Monochrome’s Angel Hair and the Wagyu Donburi. For sides, we had Crispy Mid-joint Wings and one of their Specialty Fries with toppings of chilli crab sauce. We love the Chilli Crab Fries as the sweet and spicy sauce was pretty addictive! The birthday boy loved the wings which both CK and I felt that those wings were similar to those of CP Food! Lolz... Lately, the food served from a café is getting pricey these days, but I am glad that Café Monochrome has kept their menu at an affordable price. I w

1st-Monthsary celebration of Moving Day at British Hainan Restaurant

Cheers to our 1-Monthsary on our moving house day! We decided to have a mini celebration for just the 2 of us at the 'British-Hainan' Restaurant which has a branch along Kallang Way, located within an office building called the 'Performance Building'. We started off on our meal with a plate of Hainanese Ngoh Hiang which turned out to be a highlight of the dinner!   They were freshly fried, and the minced pork was well-seasoned. They went so well with the accompanying sambal belachan too! The Hainanese Oxtail Stew was delicious! The meat was  so tender that it just fell off the bone at a touch! The gravy was also thick and full of flavor!    The dish came with some pieces of Baguette, and I loved dipping them into the gravy. The bread was crispy on the outside but fluffy and warm on the inside, and was a perfect accompaniment!     It was a humble homely place that  serves great food, but most importantly it wasn't very crowded even during dinner time! My COVID-19 Vaccination Journey + Cafe-hopping : Builders Café

Image
Due to the COVID situation becoming serious, I quickly scheduled my dates and timeslots for both doses of vaccination at the same time without any hesitation when I received the invitation from MOH to do so! In a period of 8 weeks, I expect to be fully vaccinated! To be honest, I was hesitating on which of the two vaccines available I should choose. My parents opted for Pfizer and they had minimum to no side effects. This was kinda a big push factor for me, but Pfizer is not available within my neighborhood though, therefore my Baby read on some articles and told me that I should consider Moderna instead. Out of convenience, and with the read-up information, I decided on Moderna . The vaccination centre is located within my neighborhood.   My 1st Dose of Moderna Vaccine on Saturday morning I arrived earlier around 940am as my time-slot was at 1030am. Do remember to have a full meal before the vaccination. I was asked to present the SMS from MOH which indicated the date of my va

Simple home-cooked at KelJessLoft

Hiya everyone, if you’ve been following me on Instagram, it won’t come as a surprise  that I finally have a house of my own!  I will definitely cook more often,  since we now have our own unit!  My Baby loves to cook,  and he uses the kitchen more frequently than me. I received the  ready-to-cook   Nyonya Assam Fish Paste by Woh Hup via the Partibox Subscription. I used it to make Assam Fish with Prawns for dinner. Simply add water to the paste, bring to a boil and then add in all prepared ingredients such as Brinjal ,  Lady's Fingers   (okra), Fresh Prawns and Batang Fish ! Simmer for 15-20 minutes and it's done!  The sour flavor was on point, but not overpowering.  It is a very convenient and ready to cook Assam paste! Both Baby and I enjoyed our lunch! Thanks Woh Hup for the easy recipe idea! It has been almost a month since I moved into my new place, and we started to spend our Fri-date at our crib instead of pubs/bars. We make multiple trips to the supermarkets for gro
