Random happenings in December

Image
Christmas has been my favorite festive holiday since young, and I love shopping for gifts for my friends, colleagues and for my favorite person in life. Baby and I went to  Jewel Changi Airport  and I took photos against the beautiful Christmas decoration displays!  We chanced upon EVA Air's pop-up event, and we joined in the fun as they offered interactive experiences like a memory game, 360° photo booth, and stamp collection to win prizes, including flights to Taipei, Sony headphones, and exclusive EVA merchandise. After my last visit with Baby to Ume San 10 0, I fell in love with the food and vibes offered at the Speakeasy. I decided to introduce this food gem to my 2 closest friends. I revisited this eatery place with them on a random Thursday evening for a mini X'mas gathering cum Gifts Exchange dinner after our work. Japanese Vending Machines is the entrance of Ume San 100 , and it is located at an unlikely place, Fortune Centre . We met up one another where this...

Dinner Gathering at Hey Kee Restaurant + Wedding Anniversary Celebration at Acqua e Farina Restaurant

Image
Hey Kee Restaurant is a newly opened eatery in the east, near Geylang. Therefore we decided to have our early reunion with my usual ‘Lucky 7’ clique! The dining ambience is akin to Hong Kong’s famed 大牌 档 (dà pái dàng) experience with a vintage HK interior design.  大牌 档 (dà pái dàng) means ‘big licence stall’ in Cantonese where these open-air food stalls used to dot the streets and alleys of Hong Kong. Hey Kee’s menu ensures that they offer a wide variety of dishes on the menu at relatively wallet-friendly prices as to  maintain the legacy of 'Dai Pai Dongs' There were a few photo spots at the eatery, such as a HK retro old-fashioned barber shop that had a spread of hair-styling/make up brushes as props, and a HK retro bus stop! My meal started with  'Fai Cai Yu Sheng'  for our ‘Lo Hei’ celebration. 捞鱼 生  is a tradition during the Chinese New Year (CNY) period, as we Chinese believe that the higher one tosses the Yu Sheng, the better luck we will have ...

1664 Good Taste With A Twist pop-up experience + Dinner & Drinks gathering

Image
Both Baby and I headed down to the  ‘1664 Good Taste With A Twist’ pop-up experience which was held outside the Mandarin Gallery . All registrants are entitled to a complimentary glass of 1664 Blanc, 1664 Lager, or 1664 Rosé . We took part in a quiz that was related to knowledge about the beer, and upon meeting some requirements, we got to customize our own tote bag! Lastly, thanks Rue 1664 for the lovely tote bag! Recently, I signed up for 2 events from 42Race App , so Baby brought me to East Coast Park to complete my virtual run. Yes, I have successfully obtained an e-badge each from each event from the App! I recently prepared Cod Fish with Chye Poh at home. This is pretty simple dish to prepare as I steamed the fish first. While the fish was steaming, I heated up the frying pan to prepare the sauce with the Chye Poh to pour it over the steamed fish before serving! I am glad that Baby enjoyed the dinner! Apart from the cod fish, I also prepared ‘Ru Rou Fan’ with the h...
