[Winter Vacation] Shuri Castle - Day 05 in Okinawa + Returning back to Fukuoka
Good morning, Okinawa ! As usual, we headed down to the club lounge to enjoy our breakfast. After our brekkie, we made our way to another attraction in Okinawa - Shuri Castle which is located at the heart of Okinawa . It is one of Okinawa's leading tourist spots, and is built based on Feng Shui. It was said to have been built around the 14th century and is a unique Ryukyu Castle with both Chinese and Japanese characteristics. Shuri Castle was destroyed by a fire in 2019, and reconstruction is currently underway. There are three levels of viewing areas for visitors to see the actual restoration work being done in real time. How often do visitors have the opportunity to see the work of the carpenters and craftsmen up close?! The showcase also teaches us the importance of the traditions and techniques of Ryukyuan c culture, on which has been passed down through the years to generations of Okinawans!
