[random] Porridge Buffet + Dinner at Char

Image
Recently, Baby and I found an affordable place for having a Teochew   Porridge Buffet . On a random Friday, we went to the Crystal Café , Orchard Grand Court which is located along Killiney Road to have our TGIF dinner.   Though the spread is kinda small, but the quality of the food was pretty decent. Thanks my Rock, Baby for the dinner!    My perfect weekend is to spend quality time with my Rock, Baby, as I can't get enough of him LOL!    Starbucks is our favorite haunt for afternoon tea, so we always end up spending our RKMoments there. Nothing beats having our favorite Chai Tea and Bagel with Cheese Cream. Oh well, life's good and blessed!    After a long hiatus, I finally re-visited Char Casual Dining . I still remember the last time I visited their Guillemard Road joint before they decided to re-locate to current location, Jalan Besar Road. Lucily enough, it is now nearer from my h...

[all about makan] Char Restaurant + Sumire Yakitore House

Image
Auntie Shelley and Vi-Vien came down to Singapore, and both Baby and I were their host for the night!     We brought them for dinner at Char Restaurant which is located at Guillemard Road, mainly because we miss their signature Triple Roast Platter very much.     We selected the choice of Charred BBQ Pork (Char Siew), Crispy Pork Belly (Sio Bak) and Roasted Duck .As usual, I love the char siew as it was well-grilled but the standard of pork belly seemed to drop slightly as compared to my previous 2 visits last year. Their Roasted Duck was not my cup of tea at all since my first visit to the Restaurant.     We enjoyed the Minced Meat with Aubergine in Casserole and it tasted as good as before. It went well with our white rice.     We had some greenies (stir-fried kai lan with garlic) and Soup of the Day (Spare Ribs with Bittergroud).     We had a delightful dinner and chilling ses...

[Food lovers alert] Pet friendly cafe + PasarBella + Woodshed + Char Restaurant

Image
It has been more than half a year since we stepped into PasarBella , so Baby and I decided to make a trip down as we miss comforting Thai food very much.   And here you go, we settled at E-Sarn Thai Cuisine , and we ordered 3 food items from the menu. We had Thai Vegetable Pancakes with Chili Belachan, Green Pork Curry and Tom Yum Soup . We had a nice dinner and the damage was SGD42.     I ended my night at PasarBella with a pot of Earl Grey Lavender tea at Arteastiq @ PasarBella . If you love Art Jamming then this is the right place to visit!   I revisited Char Restaurant again after my last visit in August, and I simply love the food served in this eatery place. They are well-known for their roasted meats, so how can we miss out on our order of the Triple Roast Platter when we were there. And YES! We ordered the Triple Roast Platter with our choice of Charred Char Siew, Crispy Pork Belly and Succulent Soya Sauce Chicken...

Char Restaurant + Seletar Hill Restaurant

Looking for nice food is what both Baby and I have always been doing, and this time round, Baby brought me to a new food haunt, Char Restaurant which is located at Guillemard Road. It offers cze char styles dishes with its 3 signature dishes being Roast Meats! We ordered the Triple Roasted Platter - BBQ Pork (Char Siew), Roast Pork Belly (Sio Bak) and Roasted Duck at a standard price of SGD20.50.   We ordered the Soup of the Day to start off our late Friday dinner. The roasted Char Siew is heavily coated with caramelized coating which makes the meat texture softer and easily melts in the mouth. The Char Siew tasted more like Kong Ba as it tasted sweeter and smoother.   I STILL prefer the Char Siew served at Kay Lee Roast Joint which is located at Tai Sing. I love the Roast Pork Belly (Sio Bak) the best, as Char Restaurant serves the most delicious version. I enjoyed eating the crusty crackling skin although it was sinful. On wel...
