[REVIEW] Food tasting at Pies & Coffee
Pies & Coffee is a specialist of handcrafted gourmet pies with buttery, short-crust pastries, that present a greater dining experience that extends beyond the enjoyment of pies!
I love the entrance of Pies & Coffee which is located at Rochester Mall, so when Meryl extended her invite to me to the media tasting at Pies & Coffee, I got so excited over it. During the tasting, I was introduced to not only their signature, but their new launch of savory hot meals.
We
started off with New England Clam Chowder Soup, and I love the rich texture. It
tasted very flavorful and complemented very well with the crusty bread bowl.
The
Lobster Bisque Baked Rice is a well-prepared dish as it needs about 6 hours to
prepare.
The
best-selling, Beef Cheek is my favorite pick of the night. The beef chunks
tasted fabulous and each piece of tender meat went well with the pie crust.
Barbecue
Chicken Pie in Beetroot Crust is certainly an eye-catching pie
has a bright red pie crust! The portion seems a little too heavy if consumed by a single person, although that could just be me as I tend to eat less now! I still enjoyed it
very much though.
Charcoal
Crust Curry Chicken Pie was the most interesting dish I had during the tasting.
At first, I thought it was squid-ink but was told by the servers that it was
Charcoal instead. The charcoal ingredient balanced the strong curry flavor
pretty well. Each mouthful was perfect to my taste-buds.
Croque
Monsieur was served with a side of salad and whipped potato is pretty that is pretty filling to have it
all by yourself if you are a small eater. I quite like the meteoroid-like
sandwich which is rich in flavor and that made it a gratifying meal.
My
true love was the AWESOME Hungarian Beef Goulash Pot Pie which needs more than
5 hours for stewing. Each bite into the tender and succulent meatwas bursting
with flavor. It left me wanting more!
I
love Curry Chicken Pot Pie as it a twist from our very own local delight, and
the presentation of the dish was pretty creative.
The curry tasted incredibly
fragrant and spicy. I personally feel that the curry powder taste was kinda
overpowering, do add in some sugar to balance out the spicy and curry aroma
taste.
We
end our tasting with Sticky Date Cake. I had an ultimate gastronomic experience
at the Pies & Coffee tasting. Lastly, thanks for the lovely cookies!
