[food review + soft launch] OMAYA, Mount Austin

OMAYA was well-received by many 'foodie', since its flagship outlet opening at Subang Jaya. It has stirred up hype and is well endorsed of many Korean food enthusiasts within Malaysia. After a short three months, they opened their second outlet at Mont Kiara. Now, barely half a year later, OMAYA's third outlet has been opened at Mount Austin, JB, and I was delighted to have been invited for the soft launch and food review session!

The specialities we reviewed were the 1200mm Korean BBQ Skewer, Giant Pork Ribs Cheesy Toppoki Stew, Honey Mustard Boneless Chicken Cubes, Shimson Stew and the Lee Kwang Soo - Cheese Dakgalbi.

To start off, I had the Rainbow Slush (RM11.90), and I love the stylish tall bottle! The Rainbow colors looked so pretty, and were very Insta-worthy!

I was amazed by OMAYA's Korean BBQ Skewer (RM138) which holds a record for a height of 1200mm. The Skewer is fixed with various Pork Cuts, Chicken Thighs, Sices of Pineapples, Bell Peppers, Squid, Prawns and Onions.

The Skewer is hung high on the ceiling, and it is only detached once it is to ready to be grilled. Thumbs up for the BBQ Skewer as it was definitely the limelight of the night!

Next up was the Giant Pork Ribs Cheesy Toppoki Stew (RM75) which came with 5 humongous sticky Giant ribs that were marinated in mildly spicy sauce. We had a great time polishing off these ribs that were covered in such a delicious and luscious sauce!

The Honey Mustard Boneless Chicken Cube (RM25) came in piping hot cheese! I really like the chicken meat, as it tasted awesome

Shimson Stew (RM84) is one of OMAYA's signature dishes that feeds around 2-3 people. It is a combination of Korean rice cakes, noodles, luncheon meat, ham, hotdogs, baked beans and custard slices. The addition of cheese made the soup thicker and more flavorful!

The Deep Fried Squid Cheesy Toppoki Stew (RM58) was my favorite dish of the night ,as the batter was well seasoned and was cooked perfectly. OMAYA specially selected the Squid from Argentina for its better texture.

The Lee Kwang Soo - Cheese Dakgalbi is another one item that OMAYA takes great pride in! The Boneless Chicken Leg was marinated 2 days using the flavored chili sauce! The set also included an aromatic pork chop, and on the whole , the price was RM82. If you are a cheese lover, then you are in for a treat, as the seductive cheese aroma will whet your appetite!

Another Insta-worthy non-alcoholic drink is the Cotton Candy Fizzy Drink (RM9.90). Many patrons are attracted to OMAYA's special drinks. I love the bubble drink as it really made my day though handling it might be a bit messy!

Never forget about the signature beverage, which is readily available in almost all Korean Restaurants. The Watermelon Soju! This refreshing cocktail (RM36.90) tasted really delicious and was sweet!

Cheese is the primary ingredient in OMAYA, and I was surprised that I did not get the 'Gelak' feeling at all. OMAYA captures the hearts of Korean food lovers and I strongly recommended all my friends and readers to visit OMAYA! I was pleased by the generous serving portions, and the price wise, it was pretty decent as well!

Lastly, thanks for having me at the soft launch of OMAYA. I enjoyed the food very much, and it was worth travelling across the causeway to attend the tasting session!
