Mickey Go Local Campaign at Raffles City Singapore
In celebration of Mickey Mouse’s 90th Anniversary and Singapore’s 53rd National Day, Raffles City Singapore collaborated with The Walt Disney Company (Southeast Asia) to launch the first 'Mickey Go Local' Campaign which featured a public exhibition of 90 Mickey Mouse figurines designed in Singapore style by individuals from different walks of life, including President Halimah Yacob.
I really love the 'Mickey Go Local' Campaign, as it aims
to connect the iconic character with Singaporeans and tourists in a surprising
and fun manner.
Below are my takes on the best few iconic characters to symbolise Singapore.
'Phua Chu Kang' with his famous tagline - 'PCK Private Ltd! Best in Singapore and JB, and
some say Batam!'
The infamous 'Summon Auntie' whom all drivers hate the most, as they issue parking fines for illegal parking.
The 60s-70s Kopitiam styled Mickey Mouse figure which was designed by local Singaporean director Eric Khoo perhaps best represents a part of our local heritage and culture, on the olden days of the Kopitiam scene in Singapore!
The specially-created 'Mickey Go Local' products were pretty interesting, as they featured various forms of Mickey Mouse in a uniquely Singapore setting which showcased our local heritage, customs, language and delicacies! There are over 80 products available at the 'Mickey Go Local' pop-up store at Raffles City Singapore.
I was glad that I attended this launch event to witness this endearing pop culture icon! Mickey Mouse has touched the lives of many around the world without any boundaries! Disney’s 'Mickey Go Local' Campaign celebrates the character’s
90th anniversary while leaving a great memory to Singapore’s rich heritage and
culture!
Before I ended my day at the exhibition launch event, I took many random photos with my blogger friends against the very retro-looking backdrop. Thanks for having us at the event, and we had fun at the launch event.
The uniquely Singapore Mickey Mouse figurines are on display at RAffles City Singapore from now till the 29th of August 2018. In conjunction with
the campaign, CapitaLand has pledged to donate SGD300,000 through its
