BBQ gathering at SUO + Dinner at Baba Chews Bar and Eatery

Recently, with the easing of the COVID-19 restrictions, the BBQ Pits at our Condo are now opened for booking! In total, there are 4 pits in the premises, and there are 2 sessions per pit.

Baby organized a BBQ gathering with his clique, and he booked the first slot (10am-3pm) and the pit he booked was the one nearest to our tower.

We enjoyed ourselves very much and BBQ party was a success, kudos to P. He did all the cooking for us. He curated our BBQ’s menu and prepared the all the ingredients and brought them over. FYI, he is working as an executive chef in a private club along Cantonment Road.

After indulging ourselves with the yummy food, it was time for a pool party! The pool was just beside the pit, so they went down for a swim to beat the scorching weather. For myself, I usually prefer usage of the Jacuzzi as the water jets releases all tensions in my muscles!

Alles Gut! Our gathering ended at 3pm. After seeing how successful the BBQ session was, it gave me a morale booster and enthusiasm to organize more BBQ gatherings in the future with my friends and colleagues!

Baby ended our long weekend holiday with a dinner date at Baba Chews Bar and Eatery which was located at Katong. The restaurant itself was well maintained, and the staff was courteous and helpful towards the diners.

Baba Chews Bar & Eatery is an all-day dining restaurant in Katong which serves Peranakan Fusion dishes.

The Snow Crab Bakwan Kepiting is a tasty twist in which they used snow crab for the broth, in which was an amazing experience in conjunction with the Nonya dish of the Bakwan Kepeting. Both Baby and I took a while to accept the flavor of the soup. The crab meat and pork meatballs are full of flavor. Thumbs up!

We loved the Chili Crab Cake which was served with fried Mantou Chips as well as a thick chilli crab sauce. The chilli crab sauce stayed true to the essence of the real dish with generous crab filling.

The Wagyu Bun was delicious

The Pork Belly Char Siew Donburi is highly recommended as a selection for mains. Each piece of thick-cut char siew looked promising with a well-charred exterior.

Both Baby and I love the interior of Baba Chews Bar and Eatery, which retained that old Peranakan charm in a modern fashion. Although the price tag was pretty high, it is still a decent dining option if you are in the Katong vicinity.
