[Delay launch date] Red Bull Stratos – Mission to the Edge of Space

Due to the unforeseen change of direction in wind, the LAUNCH DATE have been postponed to 9th October 2012, 8 PM and the 'LIVE' broadcast will be shown on YouTube channel. For more information, please visit: www.redbullstratos.com

The latest report delivered by Meteorologist Don Day states that the weather is expected to deliver gusty winds to Roswell, NM, therefore the launch of the Mission to the Edge of Space has to be re-scheduled and the flying will probably take place Tuesday.

The reason behind the delay is a strong cold front with sharp colder temperatures, low clouds and some drizzle that will be moving through eastern New Mexico over the weekend. While the weather will greatly improve on Monday with clearing skies and warmer temperatures, wind speeds are expected to be above acceptable levels for a safe launch on Monday morning.

The delay does not influence the preparations on site. Felix Baumgartner and the team will go through the 7-hour pre-launch procedure exactly as it will occur on Tuesday morning.
