[GEWR 2015] Welcome session of #RuntoLiveGreat
This year, Great Eastern Women's Run (GEWR) 2015 celebrates 10 years of empowering women to live healthy and great through running, and at the same time, to commemorate SG50.
Thanks for the invite! This year, I was not part of
the #RuntoLiveGreat programme, but I will still participate in the Great
Eastern Women's Run (GEWR), which will be taking place on the 1st November
of 2015 at The Float@Marina Bay.
I attended the welcome session
of #RuntoLiveGreat together with the selected 80 pairs of
participants which was held at The Luxe Museum.
During the welcome session, we had the chance to meet up
with the #RunToLiveGreat influencers, Cheryl Miles and Kelly Latimer and the most inspiring pair from last year’s edition - Zann Soh and her mom,
Teo Yok Wan. The female pacer Ranjini Mei Hua was also there. They shared their
personal experiences and tips to encourage the participants on how to kick
start their fitness journey.
Owing to the roaring success of last year’s inaugural
#RuntoLiveGreat programme, it was launched again to encourage non-runners to
take that first step towards healthier and better living. The programme
is part of the Great Eastern Women’s Run 2015.
This year, the starter kit was better as compared to last year.
Oh well, I suppose it conforms what GEWR is trying to put across, whereby this year is a 10th Anniversary and the run is
getting bigger and better.
The 80 selected pairs received a wireless wristband, the 'Track
Activity' by fitbit flex, an Adidas Workout Tee and lastly, a pair of running shoes
from Adidas! (envy max lol!!!).
For
the very first time, GEWR features a 100-metres Princess Dash
category for girls aged between 3 to 9 years old, and they will be rewarded with a
special tiara for completing the run.
To
celebrate the special milestone, there is a donation campaign, ‘Don A Tutu
For A Cause’, and the tutus come in a myriad of hues and
colours – pink, blue, yellow and purple. For just a minimum donation
of SGD5, participants will be provided with a tutu which they are encourage to
don on race day in support of charity.
GEWR
2015 is raising funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation, Community Chest
(for children with special needs) and SingHealth Duke-NUS OBGYN Academic
Clinical Program, a programme to fund research to improve clinical and health
care for women and their babies.
Do
show your support for the fund raising, and run for a good cause!
The
best 10 most creatively-embellished tutus will win a limited edition Great
Eastern SG50 commemorative ez-link card with a stored value of SGD200.
A
new highlight for GEWR 2015 is the limited edition Great Eastern Women’s Run
Adidas memento tee which participants will be given upon completion of
their race.
Registration for the Great Eastern Women's Run (GEWR) 2015 is
now open till the 30th of September 2015, and Early Bird rates will end on the
31st July 2015. Apart from the newly added kiddo race, 100 metres Princess
Dash, the run still maintaining the 3 race distances - 5KM, 10KM and 21.1KM.
