July's Kuala Lumpur Staycation

A short weekend getaway to KL, Malaysia is something I always look forward to, as it is a chance to recharge myself after a week of stressful work. We booked our flight to Kuala Lumpur (KL) by Scoot. Our flight was scheduled on a Friday night at 20:05hrs, and we did our check-in online. We rushed to the airport after our work without having our dinner. This time, the flight left on schedule.

Upon reaching KLIA2, we were greeted by a horrendous sight, as there were tons of people at custom migrations. We waited in the line for almost an hour to clear the customs!

We were famished, as it was past 10pm when we were at the e-hailing area waiting for our grab-driver! It was a busy night at the airport which resulted in the driver suggesting to detour to another point for our pick-up. It took approximately an hour+ from the airport to our hotel. It cost us RM75, and we checked in at the hotel at almost midnight

Our room was located on the 49th floor, and it was spacious! Click on the video(s) to see the room tour!

All the drinks in the mini bar were complimentary!

The luxurious bathroom amenities are from the Italian brand, Bvlgari.

After the short room-tour, we left our room and took a 10-min walk to Jalan Alor Food Street to have our ‘dinper’ (dinner+supper). It is located in town which makes it easy for most tourists to visit.

Jalan Alor is a unique food destination in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. It's best to visit here at night, as during the day, there is not much activity but when the sun goes down, the street will be hustling and bustling with activity.

If you’re planning a trip to Kuala Lumpur and want to taste a variety of delicious street food in one spot, then Jalan Alor Food Street must be on the top of your food itinerary!

We settled at Restoran Sai Woo for our meal, and we started off by ordering Barbecued Chicken Wings. These were one of the most perfectly char-grilled wings that I’ve ever tasted. They were cooked over smoky charcoal grill, and tasted incredibly good!

Singaporeans are definitely familiar with the Oyster Omelette. At Restoran Sai Woo, they offer a slightly different variant of our beloved 'Orh Luak'. The ones here were crispier and drier than the our local version. The dish had a subtle wok hei flavor!

The oysters were bigger and juicer, with each bite was pretty creamy and went very well with the crispy egg. Both of us enjoyed KL's style 'Orh Luak', and if I’m ever in the area again, I’d definitely want to come back for more!

Lastly, never forget our all-time favourite, KL Hokkien Mee! Needless to say, the taste is always on point! The meal damage was about RM70 which included our drinks!

We strolled back slowly to our hotel…

Good morning, KL! It was nice to be greeted by a nice view from my room. (click on below video to view)

The Equator Club Lounge is located on level 50, which was a level above our room! It offers quite a comprehensive selection of food. As of now, among all the hotels which have an access to the Club Lounge for guests, I would say the one here at the EQ is the second best!

Nevertheless, in terms of the hotel room & amenities, we preferred this the most! The lounge provided us with all three meals - Breakfast, followed by Afternoon Tea and lastly, the Evening Cocktails with Canapés. The variety & food taste-wise was splendid!

After breakfast, we headed down to Bukit Bintang area for shopping...

We visited KKV again for shopping and some miscellaneous shops to get some stuffs.

Before heading back to hotel to enjoy our complimentary afternoon tea in the hotel lounge, we made a trip to 'Ta-daa Box', which is located at Berjaya Times Square! The objective was to grab a drink while walking back to our hotel! Ta-daa Box is a bubble tea joint and they bundle their drinks with surprise gifts such like cute plushies.

Ta-daa box’s main draw is their Signature Drinks + Blind Box Combo! My drink was paired with a surprise gift and I felt that the thrill of unveiling gifts could get addictive!

The whole process of picking up my drink and revealing my surprises was pretty easy. Simply hit a button, and a process will occur, whereby your drinks and goodies are revealed in dramatic fashion on a swiveling pedestal. I was pleasantly surprised that I obtained Lotso from Toy Story.

We walked back to EQ Hotel Kuala Lumpur to enjoy our afternoon tea at the club lounge!

The Club Lounge's view was great, and tables by the window were the most popular and hard to come by!

The Afternoon Tea Set consists of assorted sandwiches, a couple of savory tart items, scones and cakes.

.We went back to our room to ‘lepak’ after our tea, and we actually got 2 knocks on our door from the staff to top up our bathroom amenities and drinks for the mini-bar respectively. Thumbs up for their top-notch service!

Time for the Evening Hors d’oeuvres, so we headed up to the Club Lounge again. They provided a comprehensive selection of food, and therefore, we did not need to go out for dinner in order to fill up our stomach.

As a hotel guest, we decided to have some drinks and went up to Sky51, which is located at the highest level of EQ Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

There is a dress code to enter, and each person must order a minimum of 2 drinks! We went for a date night at Sky51, and my overall experience was amazing.

I love the breathtaking scenic skyscraper view of the city. The view was miraculously beautiful on the observation deck!

We woke up early the next day to enjoy having a morning dip before having our breakfast. No stay at the EQ Hotel, Kuala Lumpur is complete without having a drip at the beautiful infinity pool. It was a good choice to relax and start off the day.

The staff are friendly, and the cleanliness is top-notch! Any day at the pool is a great day for me!

After the pool session, we went back to our room to have a quick shower before heading up to the Club Lounge to enjoy our breakfast. During our breakfast session, we requested for a late check-out at 1pm instead, and which was granted immediately! We truly had a wonderful staycation with EQ HOTEL KL!

We did have the advantage of checking out at the club lounge instead of the hotel lobby, so we did so! We left our luggage at the club lounge while we went out for a short retail theraphy session at The TRX Exchange. We also got to enjoy some snacks and tea service while waiting for our grab car to pick us up from the hotel.

We can’t get enough of KL Hokkien Mee, so we travelled up to Damansara Uptown to have our lunch! Restoran Damansara Uptown Hokkien Mee is located outside Starling Mall, and it is said to be one of the best Hokkien Mee in PJ.

The noodles had a springy texture and had a good amount of pork lard and oil for aroma and flavor. I liked how the sauce tasted a bit caramelised and had the 'wok hei' which I like! Never forget to eat this with their Homemade Sambal Chili as it enhanced the overall taste better!

We also ordered Sambal LaLa & some greenies for sharing! I will definitely come back again during my next visit to KL.

As our flight back to Singapore was around 11-ish at night, we had plenty of time on the last day to do more shopping. We had dinner at my father-in-law’s place before heading to the airport. We were so glad that we had managed to try out so much nice food and we love shopping in Kuala Lumpur. We will be back again soon!
