[Food Review] Twyst + Ann Chin Popiah + Sakana-No-Suppu
Twyst is known for their value for money yummy pastas, and I am a big fan of pasta. I decided to head down to their newly opened outlet which is located at City Square Mall for dinner!
It has become a popular pick amongst office workers who are looking for fuss-free quick meals. What’s even better is that they are halal-certified, making them a great meal option for our Muslim friends. The ordering kiosks have greatly sped up the ordering process during weekday lunch times, whereby the eatery place is usually filled with office workers.
Twyst offers a satisfying meal at nett prices without breaking the bank, which is suitable for those looking to eat well on a budget. The vibes of this eatery place are all about speed and efficiency, making it a perfect choice for busy office workers.
It is also a great spot for pasta lovers! The food was good, and
the preparation of the time of the food was pretty quick. To me, it is a
well-hidden gem, and I was glad that I got introduced to this place!
If you’re looking for something unique, do try out their Signature Sakana & Gyoza Combo. They have been receiving praises for it, making it a must try at Sakana-No-Suppu. The eatery adds juicy chicken gyozas into the soup, which enhances the soup’s aroma with additional umami and flavour.
I love the udon noodles as it gives a nice chew and pleasant
aftertaste. If you are a rice person, you can opt for that too! Personally, I
highly recommend going for the udon to complete the experience. This dish
delivers a light yet satisfying meal.
Like the local fish soup, Sakana-No-Suppu also uses fresh Batang Fish but it differs by pairing it with udon instead of rice vermicelli (thick bee hoon). The soup had a more umami taste in flavors to me, as compared to the familiar Singaporean sliced fish soup found in hawker centres.
The service was prompt and friendly, making the overall dining experience satisfying and comforting. It's also best to pair with their Bonito Shoyo and Chilli Padi to elevate the taste!
If you’re working at Arc or around the area, I highly recommend it for a quick and healthy lunch on a workday. The good quality of food makes it worth a visit, although it is recommended to avoid peak meal hours due to limited dining space. However, if you don’t work near the area, I’d suggest coming here on the weekends instead, as the crowds are more manageable!
Do visit
them today and dive into the rich, collagen-packed fish soup at
Sakana-No-Suppu! Finally, during dinner or on weekends, don’t miss out on the
Bagge Udon - a fusion styled dish that blends the perfect balance of umami
and freshness!
‘Popiah’ is a local snack type food in Singapore, and for those who enjoy popiah, Ann Chin Popiah should be no stranger, as they probably have one of the best popiah in town.
Apart from Popiah, they also offer Kueh Pie
Tee, Chee Cheong Fun and Yam Cake! Not to forget, my childhood snack - peanut
butter waffles. Ann Chin Popiah has been included in the Michelin Guide.
I had the Kueh Pie Tee - a popular Nonya snack, and these
bite-sized treats were tasty. The combination of the crunchy cup shell and the
savory, juicy filling creates a perfect combination of textures and
tastes.
As compared to the popiah, I feel that the Popiah was more satisfying, as filling was generous and bursting with flavours.
The waffles were generously slathered in peanut butter jam, and they were made to order and thus came hot and fresh! Lastly, my take for Ann Chin Popiah is that it's the perfect place to visit any time of the day, to indulge in a variety of local eats and savory and sweet waffles!
