[All about food] Jian Zao Ipoh Curry Noodle + Kim Heng Roasted Meat + Bikanervala
Together with SM, we went to AMK to have our lunch at ‘Jian Zao Ipoh Curry Noodle’ which is located at Johnson Eatery.
The different thing about ‘Jian Zao Ipoh Curry Noodle’ that sets it apart from other Curry Noodles was that the curry gravy was slightly sweet but was chockful of umami flavour! We poured in the prepared squeezed lime juice which was available, and that provided a refreshing dimension to the curry broth. It also reduced the greasiness of the broth!
We went with a mix of silky hor fun and springy yellow noodles as our choice of carbs. I was surprised that there wasn’t a hint of alkaline taste at all from the yellow noodles, making it a satisfying meal.
The bowl of fragrant curry gravy was accompanied by generous ingredients like crunchy bean sprouts, char siew, roasted pork, shredded chicken, tau pok, and long beans. The curry gravy leans towards being more fluid than starchy, making it have a lighter taste, as well as having a perfect balance of all the ingredients inside! It also had a nice mix of coconut milk and a blend of mix spices which made it very addictive. For those who want a spicier kick, out of the dish, you can also mix in the dollop of belachan chilli into the curry.
The Assam Laksa is a signature dish of Penang cuisine which features a soup noodle broth of tamarind juice, chilli paste, which is then topped off with prawn paste. I did think that the aroma could have been a bit stronger, although it still had a tangy, wholesome flavor from the tamarind.
We also had the Curry Chee Cheong which is a staple dish in Ipoh that is served with pigskin and long beans in a curry broth! They also offer the popular street snack in Hong Kong - Curry Fish Ball.
Jian Zao Ipoh Curry Noodle definitely serves one of the best Curry Noodle island wide!

Both Baby and I love Cantonese cuisine, especially Cantonese styled roast meats, so we were both excited to check out Kim Heng Roasted Meat which is located at FoodHub Coffeeshop off the Serangoon area. There was a line when I arrived there, and this made me look forward to tasting the food and to see if it was worth the hype!
Always add the usual braised thick gravy sauce that are always provided at Cantonese roast meat joints to your rice to perk up your appetite! The sauce was awesome, as it added a neutral element to the sweet and the salty flavors to the roasted meat as well as our plain white rice!
A bite of their Roasted Pork Belly was delightful. The crackling skin was the main highlight of my lunch.
The Char Siew had a good ratio of fat & meat, and the fats melted nicely in my mouth.
If you are looking for traditional Roasted Delights, then Kim Heng Roasted Meat is a must-visit eatery!

Bikanervala, renowned as Singapore's top Indian restaurant, offers an extensive Indian sweets and savoury authentic vegetarian Indian cuisine.
The Samosas here are way bigger in size than the ones found from other restaurants. They were served with two dips (peppermint and turmeric) I liked the turmeric one the best, as it gave a sweet taste to my taste buds.
I ended our tasting session by having a traditional Indian beverage, Masala Tea. I enjoyed every single sip of this Indian tea. It has many health benefits as it helps in digestion and relieves one's bloated stomach after a heavy meal!
The naan was good and perfectly done. The setting is simple and clean. Service is efficient and staff generally friendly. It's a must-visit place if you are craving for Indian food. We had an enjoyable time during the tasting session and thanks for having us!
I end our date with Chewy &
Rena with some waffles & ice-cream at Just Scooop. Thanks for Jio-ing us!
