[California Dream] Day 05 : Universal Studios Hollywood

It was a lovely good day, and we had our brekkie at the Hollywood Coffee House before leaving for the theme park.

Universal Studios Hollywood is located near Hollywood, and it only took us 15-20 minutes to get there from our Airbnb. We walked through the whole Universal CityWalk in order to get to the entrance of Universal Studios Hollywood!

As with visiting all theme parks, to save time we again purchased our tickets prior to our departure from Singapore. Upon entering the park, we decided to do the Super Nintendo World first, as this was the most popular attraction. We planned a full day at the theme park, as the main issue with Universal Studios Hollywood is that it’s EXTREMELY popular with both local American and foreign travellers.

We queued for 50mins for The Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge Ride, and as per previous times, it is still one of the best attractions that I’ve ever experienced. Riders will put on a Mario cap headset on the ride which will let you experience the augmented reality of Super Mario World!

Upon leaving Super Nintendo World, we decided to do The Studio Tour next, as this ride is exclusive to Universal Studios Hollywood, and is not found anywhere else in the world. It was a pretty popular attraction. The tour gives a detailed insight and looks to the real movie making studios and film stages in Hollywood! The ride/tour itself was about an hour long!

We waited less than 15 minutes in line, before boarding the tram to explore Hollywood's most famous backlot in the largest working movie studio.

The Studio Tour included many cool things, such as the 3-D experience with the 'King Kong 360/3D, the encounter with the shark from the movie, 'Jaws', and a plane crash scene from the movie, 'War of the Worlds', All I can say is, the entire thing was so AWESOME!

My favorite ride was the Jurassic World - The Ride and with the new revamp, it became even more frightening and exciting than ever before. I really loved it! OMG! The 84ft drop which is equivalent to an eight-storey vertical raft plunge was an ultimate thrill! If you ever have the chance to take this ride, be prepared to get REALLY wet!

We next entered the world of America's favorite family, The SimpsonsDowntown Springfield was very well done! The main attraction here was The Simpsons Ride, a fast and realistic 3D roller-coaster!

We skipped the TRANSFORMERS The Ride-3D, as the wait was way too long with a 150mins. I rode it on my previous trip, and it was similar with the one I rode in Singapore. In fact, it was an exact carbon copy of each other!

We also took the hilarious and exciting 3D ride which featured the characters Gru, his adopted daughters and of course, the cute Minions! I would say that the 'Despicable Me' ride is not bad either!

I also enjoyed the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey Ride which is located at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The magnificent Hogwarts Castle is where the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey Ride is located. The interior of the castle looked realistic and detailed. The most fascinating part in the castle were the moving portraits.

Baby skipped this ride, as he always gets nauseous after riding. Therefore, I went with Hayboy, and the wait was 35mins. The ride was pretty interesting and surprising as it is a 3-D simulator suspended coaster roller. If you are sensitive to simulator rides with 3D effects, then you might get dizzy as the movement was super fast!

Baby and I love the Revenge of The Mummy - The Ride and we decided to do that again with the boy. It was not similar with the one I rode in Singapore. It was way faster with more jolting twists and turns, as well as a lot more backward motion segments!

A visit to Universal Studios Hollywood was an amazing experience for us, and we had a very well day spent at the park!

We headed straight back to our Airbnb after leaving the park. Baby ordered our dinner again via UberEats, and our dinner was delivered to the apartment reception. We had our dinner at our Airbnb before calling it a night!

Stay tuned for my next outing, as we will be heading to Palm Springs for a day trip!
