[food review] Minced Pork Bros + Oraeo Lab Tofu Cookies

Bak Chor Mee is a favourite classic in Singapore, and is also considered as comfort food for many Singaporeans. They are commonly found in our local scene yet this dish can be hard to nail.

The Minced Pork Bros stall is easily distinguished by their pop-art neon blue signboard, and they are located at Old Airport Road Food Centre, one of the oldest and largest hawker centres in Singapore.

I went there on a Saturday afternoon, and I was greeted by a long line! It took me a while to get my order, and I was genuinely impressed by their bak chor mee.

Presentation doesn’t bother me, as I always judge food on its most fundamental part. In this case it's the noodles! Thankfully, they were excellent with a perfect springy bite, and most importantly, they didn’t have a strong alkaline taste, which is always a plus point for me!

The noodles were tossed beautifully in the spicy-vinegary sauce (you can request for non spicy or without vinegar), the noodles were very slurp worthy and went very well with the ingredients. I really love the combination of the chilli and vinegar.

If you’re looking for tried and tested recipes, you can’t go wrong with the Original Minced Pork Bros Noodles - generously loaded with flavorful ingredients — juicy meatballs, tender minced pork, and fresh fish-cake.

The special mention shout-out has to go to the fish dumpling, known as ‘Her-Keow’ I love the chewy fish paste skin, and the juicy meat inside was marvellous!

It’s worth a try if you haven’t, and I’m fortunate that they are located so near my place so that I can have it again! The only downside for me is that the operating hours are till 530pm on weekdays which means I can only have it for brekkie or lunch on weekends. This is a great option that I can consider when I’m at Old Airport Road!

Oraeo Lab Tofu Cookies are oven-baked, not fried, and they have a light, crisp texture with a delicate hint of egg and butter flavor. The puffed-rice texture gives a really satisfying crunch!

I love these guilt-free treat, which are made with tofu for a healthier option without sacrificing taste. These Cookies are gluten-free and crafted with clean ingredients, therefore these cookies are ideal for those who are seeking a healthier snack.

Lastly, thanks for sending the cookies over!
