[Hokkaido] Winter Wonderland at Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU

Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU is one of the most popular resorts in Hokkaido. The resort is located on the southern slope of Mt Tomamu in the center of the prefecture. It is a very popular ski resort that has to be booked months in advance, especially during the winter season.

Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU has two main hotels - Tomamu The Tower and RISONARE Tomamu.

We stayed at Tomamu The Tower, and it is located closer to major facilities and ski slopes. There is a lounge area for in-house guests to enjoy free drinks such as champagne, hot chocolate or tea/coffee.

My lovely Melody followed us from Sapporo, Hakodate, Noboribetsu and then to Tomamu. We had a great road trip together in Hokkaido!

We stayed in a Classic Double Room, where I found that it was pretty spacious. It has a separated living area with a sofa and TV. The sleeping area had two futon-style Japanese beds which can be pushed together to make one huge futon bed!

During check-in, we were given tickets for the Gondola rides, admission tickets to the Ice Village and breakfast vouchers for the next day.

I love the view from my room!

Tomamu The Tower is well-connected to the restaurants through long covered walkways (to avoid walking in the cold!). There was a convenience mart, winter wear shop and ski rental located near to the reception. In-house guests can opt for the complimentary shuttle bus that runs frequently between the two hotels, restaurants and hotel facilities.

After checking into our room, we started to explore the resort, and we took many random photos.

We stopped by at one of the restaurants located at Hotalu Street for dinner. We had Kaisen Don again, as we simply can’t get enough of this in Hokkaido! This dinner also marked our 11th Valentine’s Day celebration!

After our dinner, we made our way to the Ice Village

One of the top attractions at the resort is the Ice Village which appears only for a limited time during winter at Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU. It features a small ice town with many domes that were made of snow and ice. There were a variety of ice-related attractions and events offered to visitors. Unique and rare ice activities can be experienced only in such cold places like in Tomamu at certain period of the year.

The winter at Tomamu can be really freezing as the temperature can easily drop down to a negative degree number! This is why this dreamy and magical ice village can exist and entertain guests with unique ice and snow activities. Hotel guests nter The Ice Village for free!

Ice Chapel - A romantic and beautiful church made of ice where couples can actually make wedding ceremonies during the winter season!

Ice Sweet Shop– A confectionery shop made of ice serving various sweet delights, including milk gelato made on an ice plate

Ice Bakery and Cafe– A bakery cafe offering a wide selection of breads displayed on ice shelves!

Ice Bar – More than 50 kinds of alcoholic beverage are served literally in ice!

I took many random photos at the ice village, and I really had a good time at the wonderful icy winter wonderland at Hoshino Resort TOMAMU in Hokkaido!

Everything was literally made of ICE – Ice Bar, Ice Shop and even the Ice Slide. I’d highly recommend that you visit the Ice Village. Don’t forget to wear one more additional layer of clothing to protect against the cold before you head there!

Stay tuned to my Day 2 activities at Tomamu!
